Janice Bond
Cultural Architect | Art Advisor | Immersive Environments Strategist
Janice Bond is a visionary cultural strategist and multidisciplinary leader at the intersection of art, architecture, and experiential design. With a dynamic career that spans continents—from the creative corridors of Texas to the culturally rich landscapes of Japan, Europe, and West Africa—her work has continually reshaped how communities, institutions, and markets engage with art, space, and storytelling.
Her practice is grounded in NeuroArchitecture and Evidence-Based Design, integrating emotional and cognitive intelligence into spatial experiences. Through this lens, Janice collaborates with municipalities, developers, healthcare systems, and luxury brands to co-create environments that are not only visually compelling but also psychologically enriching and culturally responsive.
In May 2025, Janice was appointed Executive Director of the Chicago Public Art Group (CPAG)—one of the nation's oldest and most respected public art institutions. In this role, she leads the organization's evolution into its next chapter, building on its historic foundation to expand access, preserve legacy, and innovate the future of public art through technology, immersive installations, and cross-sector collaboration.
As CEO and Chief Curator of Bond Cultural Architects, she has led multidisciplinary teams in landmark projects in curatorial strategy, public space design, and luxury cultural programming. Her firm’s influence extends across the public and private sectors, producing transformative cultural initiatives that balance artistry with economic and social impact.
Janice’s career includes executive and curatorial leadership roles such as Deputy Director at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Director of Music and Social Programming at Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, and International Director of Civic Art and Immersive Experiences at SEISMIQUE, where she pioneered tech-integrated public art and multisensory storytelling.
As an artist and cultural producer, Janice’s personal work delves into sacred geometry, sound, and fractal systems—illuminating the invisible threads between culture, consciousness, and place. Her exhibitions and curatorial projects include contributions to the Mark Rothko Art Center, and she served as a lead curator during Chicago’s Year of Public Art.
Through PUBLIC CANVAS, the public art and cultural strategy firm she founded and continues to lead with an interdisciplinary team, Janice advances bold, art-centered urban strategies that promote healing, inclusion, and community storytelling. From civic master planning and artist commissioning to fabrication oversight and installation management, she and her team transform underutilized public spaces into emotionally resonant, community-driven landmarks.
She is also the Founding Director of BOND CONTEMPORARY and ART IS BOND, two interconnected gallery and cultural platforms based in Houston’s Montrose district. Working alongside a small, dedicated team, Janice curates exhibitions and programming that center socially engaged artists and elevate narratives rooted in identity, form, and futurity. These spaces serve as both hubs for critical dialogue and springboards for global talent.
Janice Bond’s visionary leadership continues to shape the future of art, architecture, and cultural design, leaving a lasting legacy in both local and global communities. Through her unparalleled expertise, she remains dedicated to creating spaces and experiences that inspire, connect, and elevate the human spirit.
